Digital Radiography

Investing in new ways of looking into your mouth-a procedure helps make it fast, painless, and incredibly precise!

Using digital radiography - gives us a clearer way to identify all external and internal anatomical structures, and accurately diagnose your dental problems all within seconds and with minimal radiation exposure!

What's even more amazing is that it can be immediately translated to a large, clear, accurate image right next to your chair...ready for discussion. Digital radiography's technology improves and simplifies the way we care for our patients teeth, resulting in better dental evaluations and treatment decisions.

Reduced Radiation, Radical Results

Traditionally, dentists use x-rays to find out what's going on below the surface, developing them in a darkroom full of chemicals, and examining the resulting films on a special light board. Digital radiography entirely outmodes that cumbersome process. Now, a tiny sensor placed in the mouth acts like a miniature VCR camera with an x-ray sensitive chip, exposing you to 50%-90% less radiation exposure than with traditional x-ray techniques. The resulting highly detailed image of your mouth is almost instantaneously translated onto our computer screen, carrying with it all the conveniences of other digitized images: we can rotate it, magnify it, adjust it for contrast, and even color-code it for educational purposes. Further, we can store it easily and efficiently in our computer files, eliminating paper files as well as image wear and tear. For insurance purposes, referrals, or patient education, it can be easily, inexpensively and faithfully reproduced any number of times. And because it helps our patients clearly understand the root issues behind their dental health, we1re able to work together to determine the very best treatment options for each case.

Digital Cosmetic Imaging

If there is something about your smile that you don't like, but you can't visualize what cosmetic dentistry can do for you, then computer imaging can "show the future".

It's simple. We take a photo of your smile, and then through the magic of modern technology, we can "replace" your present smile with what can be your new smile. You can see BEFORE treatment what you'll look like AFTER! Isn't the modern world wonderful!

Paperless Office At our office we are committed to keep up with the latest cutting edge technology available. We are one of the few offices that is headed towards all electronic media.

What does that mean for you?

The computerized records are far more organized than paper... we can go from one radiograph to another quickly and effortlessly-and with computer enhancement better see and diagnose any problems that you may have developing. Since we can recall a record at the touch of a button, there's no such thing as a misplaced file. There are no cracks for your treatment plan to fall through which could allow small problems to escalate. And the "seamless integration" of all records means your treatment is timelier and better organized; and dialogue with your insurance company is much easier as is communication with specialists.

We may not actually use it in your mouth, but our "paperless office" goes a long way to giving you much more personal and gentler treatment.

LASERS

Dental lasers help us treat conditions in the mouth using light energy. The laser is very selective, penetrating to a specific depth in the particular kind of tissue we want to treat.

The tissue absorbs the laser light, which agitates the molecules of the tissue, causing the tissue cells to gently break apart. This very precisely treats only the desired area, while leaving healthy gums, bone, and tooth structure untouched.

Uses of dental lasers

There are different kinds of dental lasers, and we use them to treat different kinds of oral tissues. We can use lasers on soft tissues like gums, and on hard tissues, like teeth and bone.

We may use lasers on soft tissues to reshape healthy gum tissues or remove diseased gums, decontaminate gum pockets that are infected with periodontal disease, and treat some sores in the mouth.

We can also use lasers on hard tissues to remove tooth decay and prepare teeth for sealants, bonding, fillings, and other restorations, perform root canal therapy, reshape bone, and treat sensitive teeth.

The benefits of lasers

There are many benefits of using lasers:

  • They are much quieter than a dental drill, with no whining or vibration.
  • They are very precise, so there is minimal impact on oral tissues.
  • They're gentle and generally painless, so they often require little or no anesthesia.
  • They can minimize bleeding and swelling, and speed the healing of gum tissues.
  • They reduce the risk of infection by decontaminating the affected areas.

Dental lasers are a versatile tool for more comfortable and effective dental treatment.
